While having missing teeth can affect your self confidence, it can also have a negative impact on your overall health
Dental implants can provide a permanent solution to restoring your smile, improving your appearance, preventing bone loss, reducing premature aging and protecting your dental health by simulating your natural tooth and tooth root structure.
Here are some benefits dental implants offer compared to other traditional denture or bridge applications:
- Natural appearance. Dental implants look and feel like natural teeth, blending seamlessly and producing beautiful results.
- Increased comfort. Because dental implants function like natural teeth, they eliminate the discomfort caused by removable dentures.
- Boost self-esteem. Dental implants can restore your smile and help you feel better about yourself.
- Durability. Dental implants provide a permanent solution to missing teeth.

Why implants?
– The teeth adjacent to your missing tooth can change position to fill the space.
– The loss of your missing tooth’s root can cause your jawbone to shrink, causing your face to age prematurely.
– A missing tooth can affect the look of your smile, and most importantly, your self-confidence.
East Coast Dental Centre is pleased to offer a variety of options for replacing single or multiple teeth. Depending on your unique situation, a dental implant may be the best solution for replacing a missing tooth or teeth. Like natural tooth roots, dental implants provide a strong foundation for crowns, dentures or bridges. Dental Implants can help you achieve the smile you have always wanted.
Missing several teeth?
If you’re missing multiple teeth in the same region of your mouth, our dentists are likely to recommend a permanent bridge supported by dental implants.
This type of bridge is supported with several dental implants, which act as tooth roots. While traditional bridges place all of the load on the surrounding teeth, the implants absorb much of the force from chewing, making it easier on the surrounding teeth.

treatment
We do our due diligence to make sure you’re happy with your new smile and that your procedure and recovery are as comfortable as possible.
Before your surgery you will meet with our Lab . They will work with you to help pick out the size, shape and color of your new set of temporary teeth. Because these teeth are temporary, when we begin the second phase of your treatment (fabrication of the final prosthetic), you have a second opportunity to make adjustments so that you are comfortable with your decision and love your new smile.
Prior to treatment, you will meet with either Dr. Doncaster or Dr. Al-Janabi. During this appointment the doctor will review your case, provide you with detailed explanations of all of your treatment options, study your health history, review your X-rays and CT scans, and prepare you to have your surgery.
If it has been determined that sedation is required for you procedure it will be by IV sedation. Sedation may be required to keep you relaxed and will put you into a dreamlike state, keeping you relaxed and comfortable while the dentist is working on your smile. During your treatment you will be constantly monitored by an ECDC RN and the ECDC team.

We know that contemplating this type of surgery can feel stressful.
This is why we go out of our way to make sure you know exactly what to expect and the steps you’ll need to take to have optimal results. As with any surgery, there can be some discomfort, swelling and sometimes bruising.
Most patients report that they were much more comfortable following the procedure than they had anticipated. All of our “All-on-4” patients have been given a post surgery workbook to use as a reference during their healing period. Most patients report that when these instructions are followed, they experienced very few post-operative complications.
